Sunday 27 June 2009 - warm
Today I didn't do very much and all I want to tell you about is about how I made a
homemade pearl milk tea ~
While I was watching dramas, I decided to look for the recipe for Pearl Milk Tea. Interestingly, in other countries, they call it
Bubble Tea and can be called
Boba Tea or just simply
Boba. Turns out, our so called
Pearl Milk Tea migrated from Taiwan in the 1980s around the world and arrived in
Australia only a while back. Okay, no more history, time to get in the kitchen.
Yes, you don't have to tell me I'm lame, I already know that.So, I got the recipe from Gavin but didn't really follow it that much..For anyone who actually wants it;;
Ingredients: water, sugar, large tapioca pearls, milk, tea bags,[ i used black tea ]
Method:
1. Prepare sugar syrup. Heat sugar and water on medium in the ratio 1:4 , water to sugar. NOTE: don't boil it. END NOTE. Then refridgerate it.
2. Prepare the pearls. I followed the instructions on the package of mine, but just in case it doesn't have instructions;; In the ratio 1:9 , tapioca pearls to water , boil the pearls on medium. Before you pour the pearls in slowly let the water boil first. Boil until plump and their is a transparent skin around hte pearl. This takes about 5-10 minutes. Then set aside with the lid on the pot for 15 minutes. Then refridgerate.
3. Prepare the tea. Again, I followed the instructions on the packet, but just in case it doesn't have instructions again;; Put 2-4 teabags in a teapot and then follow by pouring boiling water into the pot and set aside. You don't have to refridgerate if you don't want to.
4. Prepare the milk tea. Before you do this, you have to wait for the tea to cool first. So, in the ratio 1:1 pour tea and cold milk into a cup. Then follow by adding a spoon full of sugar syrup and stir. Once mixed, pour in an amount of pearls as you wish.
Here are some photos of this
fun experience.
